Rashmi Nainwal
Co-Founder, IJA BOJYU
Rashmi Nainwal is the Co-Founder of IJA BOJYU, a premium handloom saree brand rooted in India’s rich textile heritage, traditional craftsmanship, and timeless design. With years of hands-on exposure to Indian crafts, handloom traditions, and artisan communities across the country, she brings deep domain knowledge to the curation of authentic sarees and heritage textiles.
Rashmi’s journey into the world of handloom and textile craftsmanship is shaped by both lived experience and creative practice. A lifelong creative, she has always found beauty in everyday materials, transforming ordinary and discarded objects into meaningful works of art. This instinct for craftsmanship, texture, detail, and design eventually evolved into a deeper passion for Indian textiles and saree traditions.
As the wife of a retired defence officer, Rashmi had the opportunity to live in multiple regions of India. These experiences gave her direct exposure to the country’s diverse weaving cultures, textile clusters, regional crafts, and artisan communities. From understanding the distinct identity of local weaves to appreciating the cultural stories woven into every fabric, she developed a strong foundation in India’s handloom ecosystem and traditional textile heritage.
To deepen her understanding of textile art, Rashmi also professionally learnt block printing and went on to design and create some of her own block-printed sarees. This practical experience strengthened her knowledge of textile design, traditional motifs, colour combinations, printing techniques, and the craftsmanship involved in creating handmade Indian textiles. Her work goes beyond appreciation—it is grounded in hands-on learning and direct engagement with traditional craft processes.
Over the years, Rashmi has built trusted relationships with weavers, artisans, and textile vendors across India, giving her first-hand insight into the quality, authenticity, and workmanship behind genuine handloom sarees. Her understanding of fabrics, weaving styles, sourcing, and artisan-made textiles plays a key role in shaping the collections at IJA BOJYU.
At IJA BOJYU, Rashmi leads the curation of the brand’s saree collections, carefully selecting handwoven Banarasi silks, Kora organzas, tissue sarees, cotton sarees, and other heritage textiles that reflect authenticity, craftsmanship, elegance, and timeless appeal. Her focus is on preserving the beauty of Indian handloom while making thoughtfully curated sarees accessible to women who value tradition, artistry, and quality.
Through her work, Rashmi remains committed to celebrating India’s weaving heritage, supporting traditional craftsmanship, and bringing forward sarees that carry the skill, culture, and stories of the artisans behind them.
